Designing a Bathroom Cabinet

If you are in the process of remodeling or building a new bathroom you have millions of attractive and practical options for the design of your bathroom cabinet needs. Many people use old fashioned medicine chest cabinets, which are built so that they have a door on the them that is actually the bathroom mirror, and when you open the mirrored door to the cabinet, you find shelves that are usually deep enough just to put bottles of medicine and shampoos and that sort of thing. The advantage is that this space saving cabinet hides all those cluttery things behind the mirror so that it is out of sight and out of mind, without taking up any unnecessary space in what can often be the most space limited room in the house.

Others go for larger bathroom cabinet systems, if they have enough room in their bathrooms, and these can be made as built in shelves, if you plan ahead and install them when you build the walls of the room. This is a very stylish and convenient design. You can put doors over the shelves or you can just leave them open. And many people compromise, by putting curtains of colorful fabric, or even plain white fabric, over them to disguise the stuff that is stored on the shelves.

Some people dont use actual bathroom cabinet cabinetry, but they use other things, like old trunks, crates, boxes, or baskets. Sometimes baskets work well because you can roll up washrags and towels into small rolls and then place several into a basket for a cool and convenient way to store them. And you can use laundry hampers and baskets for used towels or for storing items like extra soap and tissue. If you have a closet, you can remove the door to give the illusion of a larger room, and this often works just fine in a bathroom, where you dont mind having the contents of the closet shown, because it is mostly towels and bathrobes and such.

One of the best places for bathroom cabinet design is under the sink, where there is space only occupied by a couple of ugly drain pipes going to the sink. Vanities are a great way to convert this kind of space into cabinets, and at the same time add some dressed up look to your bathrooms unused spaces.
